About Us

It was a dark and stormy night...

What? That's the wrong story?

A long time ago, in a galaxy...
Huh? That's not it either? hmm.....

It seems like a very long time ago that Chad and I came together with the idea to make a card game. It happened late one night in a comic book store called Amazing Adventures in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Over the years I had created an RPG called “The world of Drakyre”. Only the store customers/friends had played. Everyone had told me to write some things up and put it out at Gen Con but I never got to it.

Then, when the ccg craze hit.

The year was 1994 and collectable card games were all the rage. We were all still playing RPGs and living our dreams. Both Chad and I ran the store and we were tired of seeing people buying over priced packs of cards just to get the chase rare. As soon as they got it, they would sell it or trade it and buy more packs. That wasn’t gaming anymore; it was a gambling addiction.

We wanted to see a change.

Chad and I both thought we would like to put out a card game based on Drakyre. We thought if we put out a full deck of cards and only one sub pack for added fun, gamers would not have to shell out tons of cash. If it took off, we could later integrate the cards into the RPG.

Age of Heroes was released in 1997 at Gencon in Milwaukee, WI. It was well received locally, but there were two problems:

1) we did not have the resources to market the game on a large scale, and
2) the market was not ready for a standalone game. People actually liked gambling with booster packs.

The game didn't take off as we had hoped, and we closed up shop for nearly a decade.

Chad and I were recently approached by Doug Bushong at Inkbender Productions about developing an expansion for the game, and we look forward to releasing a new product. In the meantime, we are selling off the remaining stock of the original game to fund the expansion. We hope that, in the coming years, more of stories and characters can find the way out of the dungeon.

If you are interested in the game, please feel free to contact us.
